Nurturing Joyful Puppies with a Raw Diet: Insider Tips
Sometimes when a puppy is purchased, a breeder will tell the new owner that they need to keep the puppy on the same food for 6mths, I am sure this is simply because the breeder believes that the food they use is the best, and wants your puppy to do well, but healthwise there is no reason to wait to change your puppy over to a raw diet, infact, the sooner a puppy is changed over to raw, the better it is, as good nutrients, in their most bio-available form, are the best thing your puppy can get to help them grow fit and strong and have good healthy immune systems to build their natural immunity quickly and effectively.
It is often said that, “liver blows any fruit or vegetable out of the water in terms of nutrient-density” – do you know how important Liver is and what a nutritional powerhouse it is for your dogs?

Many think it also stores toxins, but this is incorrect – it filters and neutralizes toxins [from drugs, poisons, chemicals etc.], but these are then stored in fatty tissues and in the nervous system in the body.
On average, organ meats are between 10 and 100 times higher in nutrients than musclemeats.
It also contains Omega 6, Omega 3 and other nutrients.
Liver is so good that a very well-known and effective remedy made for fading puppy syndrome, is made simply from boiling some liver in water, and then feeding the cooled water and juices from the liver to the puppies, as it contains so much goodness:
Beef Liver Remedy for Fading Puppies
It’s so simple…..Large piece of Beef Liver, little bit of water, boil slowly, about 5 minutes until the blood comes out. Let cool, drain the liquid and put just 4 drops (no matter the breed) into a dropper and give to puppy. At first you give it every 2 hours for 12 hours, then every 4 hours. You can do this for however long you have to, until you feel the puppy is thriving. In just 2 days the turn around can be miraculous. Don’t use any of the liver itself, it’s much too rich, just the liquid.
How much Liver?
Keep some Liver in the freezer just in case.
We recommend organ meats make up approximately 10% of a natural raw diet, and it really is quite important that as much as possible, half of that be liver.
Some dogs can be fussy with the texture of Liver, but there are ways to get around that with mincing, mixing etc., other, like mine absolutely love it and eat it straight up first of all.
The feeding of Liver as a normal regular part of your dogs diet, will go a long way to ensuring they do not have dificiences in the nutrients contained in it, and in other important essentials like Thiamine.
Commercial petfoods are often over-processed which can lead to deficiencies in the amount of Thiamine present in them, and they are often also preserved using Sulphites which interfere with the absorption of Thiamine in the body.
If you feed a raw diet, we do not recommend you make fish the mainstay of your dogs diet,as this can contain an enzyme which destroys Thiamine.
We sell fresh raw Liver from a butcher whose stock are all ethically reared, and grassfed from local farms, frozen in 1lb and now also have 1/2lb size bags, so it is very easy to add this to your pets diet, and for dogs it is fine to let it warm sufficiently to be able to cut off the amount needed, then pop it back in the freezer for another day.
